The Government last evening lay blame on overzealous immigration officers for the collapse in a deal to export major national liability, Wimal Weerawansa, to an unnamed foreign country so he could continue to talk cock elsewhere without causing further embarrassment to Sri Lanka.
The immigration department said that, although they supported the deal to export Weerawansa for good, they had no choice but to detain him due to his falsified documents. Their suspicions were raised after going through his passport and discovering that his profession was stated as ‘Hard Working Politician Acting With Integrity’. The arresting officer said that the scale of that misrepresentation mean that they were compelled to arrest him and produce for the authorities despite the long term benefit to the country by ensuring his safe passage overseas.
Reports have emerged that the Prime Minister has personally intervened to try and secure the release of Mr Weerawansa and banish him from the country. If successful, the Government will also start the process of exporting other variants of the product ‘Talking Cock’ including Bandula Gunawardena and Vasudeva Nanayayakara
