Cut Use Of ACs And Watching SL Cricket On TV To Save Electricity And Being Embarrassed: President

CricterPresident Maithripala Sirisena outlined a number of suggestions to help the country conserve electricity in the face of a drought predicted by Water Board, including reducing the use of Air Conditioners and putting a stop to the broadcast of Sri Lanka cricket matches in a bid to also conserve embarrassment.

Speaking from his very cool 18-degree office, the President said, “I have to Sri Lanka Cricket that the country will not be watching their matches for the foreseeable future. It’s both a waste of time and electricity which is very scarce at the moment. I have told the public that they can read about the result, I mean loss, in the newspaper as it’s more efficient at this time of need. Although I am willing to show the team batting as that only takes about 17 minutes in total before they are all out and the highlights package of wickets will take 2 minutes to watch.”

Thilanga Sumathipala said, “We are hoping the boys will perform better in the other formats against South Africa, particularly book cricket. That will also mean that we don’t waste a lot of electricity practising.”

A group of civil servants have said they are willing to help the government in their electricity conservation drive by not working.
