The UPFA borrowed a quote from a motivational poster which states “Do one thing every day that scares you” for their own campaigning purposes and have included it in a last minute poster printed to get the public to vote in Mahinda Rakapakse at the General Election which takes place today.

Head of Quotes and Slogans for Posters at the UPFA explained the concept to the media: “It is said that in order to life a fulfilled life you should do one thing every day that scares you. So we are asking the public who are not engaging in any activity that will scare them on Monday 17th August to consider voting for Mahinda. We can almost certainly say that is the act that they will most dread not just tomorrow, but for the whole week. Maybe even the next 5 years”

An alternate poster asking people to “Feel the fear and do it anyway” is also going through the press run this morning.

Meanwhile the UNP is urging people to vote for them under the slogans “Greens are good for you” and “We are not the elephant in the room”, while the JVP are going with “Don’t forget us, only forget what we were”

The Election Commissioner has been running his own slogan – “When voting don’t follow your heart and don’t follow your head – follow the rules on your voting card. Thank You.”
