Govt Forgets To Include ‘Luxury Cars For Ministers’ In List Of Price Controlled Items

CarThe Ministry of Commerce today said that they conveniently forgot to include a key essential item in the list of price controlled goods which it released this morning, namely luxury cards for ministers.

A spokesman for the ministry said, “There are 16 items that are essential for most of the public and we took a stand to ensure that these are affordable by setting a maximum price. However in addition to the 16 items, Government Ministers also require a luxury car in order to survive and carry out their jobs. A number of ministers who attempt to travel using non-luxury vehicles complained that they broke out in a sweat and felt nauseous after discovering their standard cars didn’t have a cup holder. As such we determined that the ministers require luxury cars to perform their jobs optimally.”

“However, unlike the average person, Government Ministers said that they cannot afford to pay for these vehicles so we decided that we would assist them by controlling the cost and removing any applicable taxes and also where possible get the relevant ministry to pay for them. This way the country loses out on potential tax revenue which we don’t need according to Ravi Karunanayake.” he added.

One Government Minister said, “They have listed Sustagen as an essential item, but I don’t need that. The only thing I need to sustain my life is a car with a sun-roof, seat warmer and leather seats. And a nice big fuel allowance. Of course, the price of this needs to be controlled.”
