Labourers And Domestics Start Practising Keeping A Straight Face While Preparing To Lie About Returning After Avurudu

Avurudu1Domestic helpers and labourers who have begun the winding down process ahead of Avurudu have begun practising how to mask their emotions while telling audacious fibs about their promise to return after the Avurudu break.

One labourer, speaking on the condition of anonymity said, “Well I have considerable experience in this area. The key is to say it like you mean it and also make-up stories about how you actually hate your family but have to go due to the festivities. You should also try and leave something non-valuable and non-sentimental behind so it appears that you will return. But little does your employer know that you have a similar one back home.”

A domestic helper said, “I’ve been trying to learn to keep a straight face by watching some instructional videos on Youtube and most recently watching our politicians speak. They way that our elected leaders tell barefaced lies about developing the country is amazing. All I want to do is go home and come back in August, but I’ll say that I’ll be back in 8 days. I’ll try to mimic Bandula’s movements when telling the madam about coming back after the break.”
