The Government of Sri Lanka said that the recent outbreak of a global computer ransomware is nothing in comparison to the attempt to hold the country’s public health service to ransom by the GMOA.
A spokesperson for the Government said, ”This is not something new for us. The GMOA have been trying to hold hospitals to ransom, but the country has stood steadfast in the face of their idiotic demands that just feed their insecurities. We have been informed that the computer ransomware has been named ‘Wannacry’. The GMOA’s strain of the malware was dubbed ‘SAITM Hinda Api Adanava’. We are not a country that normally prepares for disasters as we are always having one going on, but this time we are ready.”
A spokesman for the GMOA, who told us to channel him to get a comment, said, “We thought that we had to take to the streets to make our case heard, but we are being informed that we can cripple hospitals through just computer malware. While this means we have more time to earn money through private channelling while on strike. the lack of computers means it won’t be that effective. The only system that will really be impacted will be e-channelling so best we don’t let that happen, as we will be out of pocket.”
