People Who Buy Cars After Govt Tax Increase Immediately Entered To Forbes Richest People List

billionaire_slideFollowing yesterday’s imposition of even more taxes on automobiles, Forbes magazine announced that anyone purchasing a new vehicle in Sri Lanka will be entered to its list of the World’s 100 Richest People for 2016.

The new tax was approved by Government ministers who do not pay any tax on vehicles they acquire. Finance Minister Raki Karunanayake speaking from his top of the range Duty-Free Mercedes-Benz said, “Although I signed off the new tax structure it won’t affect me so I know exactly how it feels to not have to pay duty. Anyone who does not want to be affected by future increases in vehicle taxes should become a politician. You don’t even have to an honest one. We are raising taxes because we have run out of ideas of how to increase Govt revenue apart from driving people crazy.”

One potential car buyer said “Inventing teleportation is cheaper than buying a car in Sri Lanka and it will be quicker to travel. It will also solve the problem of tardiness amongst Lankans. I shouldn’t be talking to you as I was supposed to be at a meeting two hours ago. But do you have any other questions?”
