Architects To Rename Back Doors In Future Drawings As ‘UPFA National List’

back-doorThe Sri Lanka Institute of Architects has issued a circular asking all its members who draw up building plans for businesses or residential purposes to name all back doors with the new term ‘UPFA National List’ in all future drawings. The term is to come in to the industry vernacular as of Monday and is considered a more apt description for how people enter who have not been invited enter a  system when they should have in fact rung the bell and entered through the front or stayed outside if no one wanted to them in.

The Institute said they came to the renaming decision after conducting a recent study whereby a sample of people including S.B. Dissanayake, S. Amunugama and T Sumathipala were observed visiting an acquaintance’s house but after ringing the bell, knocking on the door and calling the dweller’s mobile, a clear indication that no one was in, they decided to barge in through the back door of the premise and make themselves at home. Once inside they were seen debating national policy, voting on where the sofa should be placed and having a subsidised lunch.

However the back door was bolted before a number other people involved in the study including GL, Malini and Prof Wijesinghe could enter.

UPFA members on the National List deny the claim that they made a rear entry on an acquaintance.
