Former President Mahinda Rajapakse is lending his weight behind protest ‘March’ and has asked his supporters not to be misled by false propaganda with regards to today’s rally, saying that he will be delivering some when he arrives.
In a message posted through his social media channels, Mr Rajapakse said, “The current Government are spreading false propaganda but they should know that no one can beat me at that game. During my entire campaign, I made a series of false accusations and created a culture of fear among the public as to what would happen if the UNP got voted in. For a while, most people believed me but then they seemed to get fed up. But that hasn’t stopped me from continuing to making sure that I try to undermine this government and tell a bunch of porkies about them. It’s also comforting to know that there is a group of gullible people who will believe anything I say. Because I am telling the truth you see. The only one thing to fear about the current situation is that I might actually end up back in charge.”
“Since this Government came into power, there has been no power on a regular basis. You have to however give them credit for running up a massive debt that had nothing to do with the company credit card that I was using in my time. I just bought a few items on Alibaba.com like a Port, a couple of Highways and an Airport. And they delivered it for free.” he added.
Meanwhile, a spokesman for the current Government said, “We tried some Rajapakse style propaganda with the 100-day programme and Yahapaalanaya and it is slowly unravelling. At least there is no one else so this country will have to do with the best of a bad lot.”
