Finance Companies Begin Offering Leasing To Park Cars In Colombo

A number of finance and leasing companies said they would shortly unveil a raft of new products in to the market which will help car owners lease out the new tariff imposed on parking in Colombo after it was unveiled that meters would be installed along Galle Road and Duplication Road.

A number of drivers said that they would find it difficult to afford the cost of parking in Colombo after the new measures were announced yesterday, and leasing companies said they would help customers defraying the cost over a number of months making it more affordable. Of course for those who miss payments the meter will keep ticking.

One driver, who had parked across two bays, said “Now I won’t be able to park like this for free anymore and unnecessarily cause more traffic. I’ll have to move out of Colombo now, but I’ll be able to take up 3 parking bays with my one nano car.”

Meanwhile Car Parking Attendants are expected to be the most hated people after Politicians and Drivers once they begin operations soon. One car owner plans on running over the parking meter saying “If it doesn’t exist, I don’t have to pay.”
