A girl from Biyagama whose photo, like insanity through Parliament, has gone viral said that she was not trying to take selfie in the flood, but rather had been so immersed in trying to take the perfect picture for her Tinder profile that she did not notice the rising water around her.
The girl, who has since had five proposals of marriage and two proposals two dry her clothes, said “We have only one mirror at home which my brother hogs, so sometimes I need to take a selfie to see how I look. It’s not about being vain. However on this occasion, I was trying to take one for my profile picture as in the previous one my hair was shorter by 2 inches and so I wanted to show my new look. I stood in the middle of the road for over five days waiting for the right light and angle to take the picture. Unbeknownst to me, there was a torrential downpour and it started flooding.”
“I seized the opportunity to take a picture with the rising water in the hope that it would generate a response from a knight in shining armour to swoop in on his horse and come save me. Or at least throw me a couple of floaters as I can just about tread water but can’t swim,” she added.
Meanwhile, the driver of the white truck said, “She could have come helped us push the vehicle rather than stand around taking pictures. Our vehicle was being submerged while she was seflie-ing. Very selfish of her.”
