Harin Apologises For Obscene Language – “I Shouldn’t Have Used The Word ‘Yahapaalanaya’”

Minister For Telecommunication and Digital Infrastructure, Harin Fernando, has apologised for his recent outburst in Parliament when he was overheard using obscene language including the term ‘Yahapaalanaya’, and has vowed never to use it again.

Speaking at a press conference last evening, the MP from Badulla said, “I am disappointed to have resorted to using such language but it was only as a result of exasperation. While ‘Yahapaalanaya’ was meant to refer to Good Governance,  over the course of the last few months the definition has now been updated to mean ‘We’re gonna make false promises and just amble along without purpose’ which we know is derogatory. My fellow cabinet ministers and I are responsible for the change in this definition so I can’t claim ignorance in not knowing that it should not be used anymore.”

Gnanasara Thero commenting on the matter said, “I was shocked to hear MP Harin Fernando use such crude language in public and despite the many profanities I have used to espouse the virtues of Buddhism, Yahapaalanaya is not one them. That F*$?!”£ Son Of A B%$*!# should know how to behave in Parliament. He can attend one of our sessions on practicing Maithri where that B&*@#!d can hear me use a few choice words.”

In addition to ‘Yahapaalanaya’, the Prime Minister has instructed the Cabinet to refrain from using other obscene words including ‘We Promise’ and ‘Ravi Karunanayake’.
