While sitting president Maithripala Sirisena is set to arrive in India following his visit to the UK to attend an Anti-Corruption summit, former President Mahinda Rajapakse today returned to the island following a tax payer funded visit to an Anti Anti-Corruption get-together held in Uganda.
Mr. Rajapakse, who watched in envy as Ugandan President Yoweri Museveni was sworn in for his fifth term having notched up 30 years of power, is said to met with several officials of the country during his brief visit and discussed how to tackle Anti-Corruption. A spokesman for the organising committee of the conference said “This is a historic occasion for Uganda. The President who abolished term limits in 2005 is still going strong. While Mr. Rajapakse was not able to emulate the same result despite employing the same strategy, there are other aspects of dealing with the corruption charges levelled against his that he may be able to learn from by being here.”
Meanwhile speaking at the Anti-Corruption summit in London, President Sirisena said, “I am here to seek the help of James Bond, Sherlock Holmes and Scotland Yard in helping us find state assets that were stolen during the previous regime as we are not having much luck in pinning down any evidence. So far we think Sajin Vaas ate all the evidence we had against him and Basil definitely took three Post-It note pads, for which he was recently arrested and subsequently bailed.”
“I heard that there is Anti-Nepotism summit being planned which I, unfortunately, won’t be able to make, but will make sure my son, who holds no official position, will attend in my place” he added
