The publishers of family board game Monopoly have asked all customers who require replacement Get Out Of Jail Free cards to contact Sri Lankan Prime Minister Ranil Wickramasinghe, who currently holds a significant stock of them.
A spokesman for Hasbro said, “We have been receiving complaints from customers who have indicated that there is a significant delay in getting replacement Get Out Of Jail Free cards from our company. We have redirected those queries to Mr Wickramasinghe who has been issuing the cards more rapidly especially to his rich and political connected friends. Poor people have been asked to play Cluedo. Just last week the PM handed out one of the cards to Wimal Weerawansa, who was going directly to jail without passing Go in one of the vehicles that he misused because he was playing as the iron.”
“We also know that Hirunika’s family were going to struggle to play Monopoly as they lost the cards from their set of the game and were also close to losing her to the prison system for abducting and threatening a member of the public. But before even calling her lawyer, she was on the phone to Ranil who picked up his Community Chest cards promptly gave her one. She is currently threatening several people who are on her property and not paid rent,” added the spokesman.
The Prime Minister said, “I’m printing an additional set of 100 cards for Arjuna Mahendra who is expected to lose the cards from his set of the game imminently.”
