Three stalwarts of the former UPFA administration – Mervin Silva, Duminda Silva and Sajin Vaas Gunawardena – today indicated they will form a new political party to contest in the upcoming general elections after the shock announcement that they will be dropped by the SLFP for bringing the party in to disrepute with their upright values.
A statement issued by the SLFP general secretary stated ‘We are a party of wheeler dealers, manipulators of facts, commission kakkas and other nefarious activities. We are also a party of dynasties. As such there is no room for these three ministers with their integrity and sense of justice and honesty. They also lack families that crave power’
The three ministers have formed a DUMP – Dangerous Underworld Money Party – but are yet to select a party logo although they have narrowed it down to a large heap. In a brief press release the party stated that ‘We will DUMP on the people once we come in to power. And we will fight for and with the people, mainly with, as my son Malaka has already done on numerous occasions’
Mervin Silva rushed out straight after the press conference to tie up some loose ends.
