The Prime Minister has instructed the Ministry of Health to find an appropriate school to admit the Minister of Education, Akila Kariyawasam, so that he can study basic health before he engages in any future public appearances which could cause further embarrassment to the Government.
A spokesperson for the Ministry said, “Following the events in Kuliapitiya and as a result of his comments, the Education Minister has been marginalised by society and we were instructed to try and find a school for him as most members of the public did not want to have any contact with him until he has been given a lesson on non-digital virus transmission. We have had a number of offers from several schools to accommodate him and are assessing which ones fulfil the criteria of offering him a decent education which he was never provided.”
A number of villagers from Kuliyapitiya said, “After we heard what the minister said, I think it is better we have that boy return to the village rather than have the minister visit us. We don’t want to catch whatever he is suffering from.”
Having conducted an assessment two of the schools that have come forward have said that they will accommodate the Minister into grade seven while the other said he will have to sit the entrance exam that all 5 year old take unless they get a letter from Higher Education Minister, Lakshman Kiriella which excuses him.
