Jayanthi Kuru-Utumpala, the first Sri Lankan to scale Mount Everest and in turn doing the country proud while establishing herself as a super woman, was today challenged by the Minister of Finance to now try and reach the top of the Government debt pile which stands taller than Everest and continues to rise.
Speaking to a local news channel, Mr. Ravi Karunanayake said, “The whole country recognises the phenomenal efforts of Ms. Kuru-Utumpala. However Everest is just a speed bump compared to the pile of debt we have racked up. My dubious efforts to try and lower it have actually increased the debt. ”
“The dollar reached a peak of Rs. 148, and I to undergo gruelling training in order to achieve this height. But I have challenged the nation to take Jayanthi’s example to hand and try reach an even higher peak. With my backing we can achieve this. How if I back off the exchange rate will improve,” he added.
NewsCurry salutes Jayanthi Kuru-Utumpala on her amazing and outstanding achievement.
