Ravi Follows Modi’s Lead To Make SL Rs 500 & Rs 1000 Notes Worthless Overnight Through Budget

IndianConeThe Minister Of Finance said that he would take following in the Government of India’s footsteps and make the Rs 500 and & Rs 1000 worthless overnight, through the upcoming budget.

Speaking at a briefing earlier this morning, Ravi Karunanayake said, “We look up to India. Mainly because they are geographically north of us. And following Prime Minister Modi’s announcement last evening regarding the removal of Rs 500 and Rs 1000 denominated notes, due to the amount that is circulating in the black market, we also decided to see what action we can take to counter corruption.”

“Having analysed the situation it looks like in order to earicate black money we need to remove politicians from the system but that is a step too far. So we have decided to also make the Rs 500 and Rs 1000 in Sri Lanka worthless, which I will be doing as part of the new budget. We are planning to raise taxes and increase the general cost of living that will make those currency notes vacant of value. Among the things affordable will be a packet of mee-beti sweets and a teaspoon of latte,” added.

Meanwhile, change will no longer be required when shopping as all products will be rounded up to the nearest Rs 1000.  And based on current projections the certain dollar bills may also be of no value if Trump wins the US presidency.
