Ravi’s Mouth Autocorrects ‘Loan’ To ‘Facility’ And Pronounces World Bank Loan As ‘Aid’

rteFinance Minister Ravi Karunanayake’s autocorrect function has yet to let him say loan properly with the most recent incident involving him announcing that a loan provided by the World Bank as a ‘facility’.

Speaking to the media, Mr Karunanayake said, “Because we can’t get a grip on the country’s finances we need more loans help. I asked the World Bank for another loan grant and they have agreed, mainly because it is the festive season. I am grateful for the hard work the Government have done to spend all the money we have on unnecessary stuff which is why we need this loan package of aid.”

A spokesperson for the World Bank said, “Ravi can call it a tomato if he wants but there is no mistaking that what we are giving is a loan. The money we are providing needs to be returned with interest. Just because we felt sorry and offered a lower rate of interest does not change that fact that this is a loan. Mr. Karunanayake has a problem grasping this. We understand it’s one of many problems he faces.”

The Finance Minister said, “Sometimes when I am at home aloneaid, I like to watch the movie Loan Grant Ranger and I don’t feel lonely facility anymore.”
