The Election Commission has just released details of the Rejected Votes totalling 596,792 from the General Election. In a stunning turnaround from last time ‘Redrawing party symbols so that they don’t like a 4 year old drew them’ topped the list with 45%. Further analysis in to this number revealed that the most redrawn symbol was the Elephant, with rumours that some people tried to sabotage the UNP by making the Elephant look like a Betel leaf to confuse the counting officials.
Origami, a new entrant this time around, accounted for 23% of the nulled votes with the sailing boat the most popular shape made. However in second place in the void vote count was’ totalling up the numbers of the candidates marked’ with 34% . There was additional concern that of those who decided to total up the numbers of the candidates they chose only 45% got their sums right.
And despite the advice not to, a small majority of people could not resist playing tic-tac-toe.
