Sunil Perera, the island’s second biggest Baila Champion after Wally Bastian, today raised concerns that he would end up living the life of a gypsy if the MR led UPFA were to secure a majority in Parliament at the upcoming elections.
Speaking at press conference held this afternoon, the singer said “I have raised the issues of the previous government on several occasions and I hope the people of the country have thought about who they should vote for. If they return to power they are going to beat me like my drummer beats his drum kit. But they won’t beat me in tune. And I have only my hat and beard to protect me.”
Asked if he wanted to elaborate any further, the singer said “Well, I don’t want to make a big song and dance about it. I have done enough of those already.”
Meanwhile pop artist and political loudspeaker Iraj has been banned from campaigning on behalf of the former President after his disastrous attempt to rally social media backfired on him completely. MR said “This fellow’s message was out of tune and didn’t resonate with the public. It was more crap than rap. Unless he turns into a fat lady to sing at the end of my campaign I don’t want his support.”
