A demand by the Private Bus Owner’s Association Of Sri Lanka for the removal of the restrictions imposed by the police to adhere to lane laws has had a ripple effect with country’s leading federation of crooks demanding that in addition, all laws be removed as they are preventing members of the group from doing their job properly.
A spokesman for the federation who blasted us in a threatening manner down the phone said, “These laws are hampering the livelihood of the members of our society. We aren’t able to steal from shops or companies and also we can’t break in and take stuff even from people’s homes if there is no one in. I mean if the people in these houses aren’t putting the stuff they bought to good use, they should let someone else. If laws enforced that hamper bus drivers are being reconsidered then so too should laws that affect thieves like us.”
“It’s hard these days to be a criminal, and with so many laws in place, some of our members are doing two jobs with a few even resorting to working as MPs to try and make a living” he added.
Private bus drivers have said their human rights are being violated by the enforcement of the lane laws and that they are willing to strike which will result in a great convenience on the roads for other drivers.
