Rating agency Fitch, today said they had turned to inspiration from the Bard in trying to decide if Sri Lanka’s credit rating should be downgraded, having analysed Ravi’s economic policies.
A spokesperson for the agency said, “Sri Lanka’s recent history has played out like a Shakespearean tale including Macbeth-like treachery, madness that could have some straight out of King Lear and farce that outdoes anything from the Comedy Of Errors. So naturally we thought that the best way to seek out a rating for the country would be to turn to another of his works, Hamlet.”
“We also consulted a number of international financial institutions who said they want their pound of flesh back and it is unlikely that Ravi will part with any of his, so it is unfortunate but inevitable that we must downgrade the rating for the country.”
A spokesman for the Minister Of Finance said, “Ravi has spoken to the creditors and made an eloquent appeal dressed as Portia (dressed as a lawyer) which started off ‘The quality of mercy is not strain’d, It droppeth as the gentle rain from heaven’ but they said they asked him to please stop and said they would take 4 ounces of flesh instead if he did.”
“The increased literacy and education system is not helping produce enough gullible billionaires in the world from whom Ravi can take money to shore up our finances, and in turn our rating,” he added
