‘Unlike A Govt Issued One, The Bond Between Us Has No Maturity Date’: Ranil to Mahendran

RandA2Ranil Wickremasinghe today announced that he would be issuing a single Bond with no maturity date and an outstanding yield and that it has been snapped up by Central Bank Governor Arjuna Mahendran who has shown a lot of interest in it for a while.

The Prime Minister speaking at a press conference said, “It is not only Government that can issue Bonds. Lots of people have bonds between them and I thought as Prime Minister I would also experiment by issuing one and also to see how much interest I would have to show. It was nice to hear that the highest bid for my bond came from Mr. Arjuna Mahendran. As he is such a nice bloke without any controversy surrounding him I thought I would even remove the maturity date from the bond so it is Perpetual.”

“The Central Bank needs strong leadership. Look at what happened in India – the Governor of the Central Bank couldn’t hack it anymore and he left. But out Governor is much more durable. Despite the slew of accusations, he continues to stick through it. Like Multibond,” he added.

Meanwhile, the Central Bank has announced that they are close to discovering who has been telling the truth to the media, otherwise known as ‘leaking information’, with regards to internal matters, otherwise known as ‘dubious activities’.
