Minister Of 4 Hour Budget Readings Ravi Karunanayake, today announced that he will be tabling a proposal to nationalise the world’s largest Blue Sapphire, which was discovered in Sri Lanka a few days ago, in a bid to increase the government’s asset base and also regain some personal credibility after most of his budget proposals were completely disregarded or significantly amended.
Speaking to the media, the Mr Karunanayake said, “The Blue Sapphire, although discovered by someone, is a natural formation and as such belongs to the government. I have proposed that it be nationalised and also asking for 10% commission in return for devising this idea. The person who claims to own the Sapphire is invoking the popular and accepted ‘Finders Keepers’ principle but there is no such clause in the constitution. However there is one which states ‘Ravi Karunanayake may get away with dodginess’”.
“It’s important that people first listen to me before they disregard what I have to say. That is the process that needs to be followed as it was as part of the Budget process.” he added while no one listened.
