A boy who can sing pop songs very well, Justin Bieber, today said that his recent hit single “Where Are You Now” was not officially commissioned by the President’s Media Division as a song to commemorate his first anniversary and also a year since the launch of Yahapaalanaya, despite the title being applicable.
Mr. Bieber, who has refused to come to Sri Lanka after concern was raised at the number of bras that would be thrown at him, said, “The President did actually ask me to write a song about Yahapaalanaya and I offered him the song ‘Where Are You Now’ but he said it was a bit too close to home. However, he is not the first person from Sri Lanka to request a tune from me. Several Government Ministers wanted to use the same song to taunt former President Mahinda Rajapakse, and Mervyn Silva, while as a minister in the previous government wanted to use the tune to play in his white vans.”
A spokesman for the Presidential Media Division said, “We are experienced in dealing with crisis after crisis and this just another one. First there was ‘Brother-gate’ (at SLT), then Bra-gate and now we are dealing with ‘Song-gate’. As they say, when one gate closes another gate opens.”
In a related story, a spokesman for Bieber has said his new song “Sorry” was actually commissioned by the voters in Sri Lanka for letting Ravi enter Parliament.
