Game of Thrones author George RR Martin, today announced that he will not be writing in the character of Arjuna Mahendran into the novels or TV series in the fear that he will not be able to write him out ever again.
The author, together with the screenwriters of the play, had mooted including Mr. Mahendra into the plotline considering his attributes of corruption and nepotism which resonate with several of the other main characters. In a statement on Facebook, the author said “We thought he would be a perfect fit for us. He takes care of his family and has a brashness about him. He even had good references with the Prime Minister of Sri Lanka, Ranil Wickremasinghe, who got in touch with us to vouch for him.”
“However, I am concerned that we won’t be able to write him out of the storyline despite his indiscretions. It seems that he has a Perpetual desire not to let go whatever fate befalls him and even if all other families around the country have shunned him. This is not in keeping with the spirit of the story as everyone must face their own demise at some point. I managed to write out the whole Rajapakse family even though it appeared they would hang on for a third season. But Mahandran is a much tougher prospect.” he added.
