Following the apprehension of a Ford Mustang which allegedly once belonged to Parliamentarian Namal Rajapakse, a 1978 Lada once owned by Mahinda Rajapakse has also been taken in for questioning in order to ascertain its role the rise of the former president’s career.
The Mustang, which was seized yesterday, has been yet another of the showcase items that the FCID revealed with much fanfare to the media as an indication of their progress of investigations against the former regime. However, it appears that the vehicle was purchased with due care with both vehicle and financial tracks carefully covered, foiling yet another FCID victory.
Meanwhile, a Lada once driven by the former President was also remanded last evening as it was thought to have played a major role in the fortunes of Mr. Rajapakse when he was an actor and MP in the eighties. A producer for Top Gear has been in touch with the FCID in order to try and create a special segment about the cars and the first family which has been tentatively titled “0 – 60 Million Rupees in 3.82 seconds.”
FCID have said they are also on the lookout for a BMX bike that Chichi Rajapakse once used to cycle down the street on suspicion that it had been illegally modified with stabiliser wheels.
