The former Chairman of Sri Lankan Airlines was injured last morning when the airline he was travelling on was subject to serious turbulence during a flight from Paris.
Mr WickremeLion, who is also a current relative of the former President, suffered minor injuries which included further damage to the area of the head which was already suffering from the inability to run the national carrier during the previous regime. However he avoided having to go to hospital, and said he would be rather be admitted for something more serious – like when being summoned by the FCID. As a result of the Turbulence, the former Chairman was flung in to the air but landed safely on top of 3 air stewardesses.
On leaving the airport we asked Mr Former Chairman if he had confidence to fly on Sri Lankan Airlines in the future and he told us “No, I intend on flying Mihin Airlines” but added “I’m only joking. I wouldn’t let my corpse fly on that piece of ship”. (Our journalist may have misheard the last word)
