The Government’s HR department said that they are planning to implement the 360° appraisal system from next year after the current self-appraisal system has been questioned following the President’s view that his performance was ‘extremely satisfactory’ and ‘exceeded expectations’ despite the public view to the contrary.
After completing his self-appraisal online, the HR team became suspicious when all MCQ questions were answered with ‘Excellent’ including the questions ‘Rate your ability to prepare a Bolognaise Sauce’ and ‘Rate your skills in tucking your shirt in on official foreign trips’ despite photographic evidence proving otherwise.
The President said, “I hate year-end appraisals. They are just a formality by the HR function to try get a raise. Anyway, I knew it was mandatory so I filling out the form. I remember everything being excellent this year. Well, that’s what my staff are telling me. A lot of people I know are also happy when I am not in the country. So that is another excellent score.”
The Government HR division said that they decided to the change from self-appraisal after reviewing all MP’s submissions where every answer had been marked ‘Excellent’, apart from John Amaratugana’s honest assessment of his ability to ‘keep up with things’ and Ranjan Ramanayake’s acting skills, both which were marked ‘average’.
