A number of motorists who ended up looking like fools for panic buying fuel have levelled yet another complaint against Prime Minister Ranil Wickremasinghe for ending the CPC Trade Union strike in just one day.
One upset motorist said, “Everything on social media is true. I once read about that on social media. So when I saw a post saying that the country was going to run out of fuel in 15 minutes, I rushed to the nearest shed to fill up the tank. However, a number of people who saw the over exaggerated post before me were already in line. It eventually took me three hours to reach a pump by which time I could only get kerosene oil and credit card fraud. But after all that, I mostly disappointed with Ranil for curtailing the strike to just twenty-four hours.”
The Prime Minister said, “I realised that even my steamroller, which I use to get policies pushed through without proper consultation needs petrol. So I decided best to end the strike and not rush through a deal with India until I have a full tank. I managed to negotiate with the trade unions effectively by wearing the mask I did when I went to Meethotamulla but also adding earplugs.”
