Following the news that stray dogs and homeless people will be moved out of Colombo, a spokesperson representing both groups of species said that they are happy to wait out until the completion of the fancy new Port City on which they will find a new abode.
One dog said, “The Government is saying that there is no room in Colombo, but the other day while roaming the streets in the Fort area I noticed the development of new land and also a lamppost that I had not peed on before. So after having a major sniff and relieving myself, I inspected the construction work on the seabed and realised that there is enough room for us dogs. So we don’t need to be shifted out of the city as we can just wait it out until the Chinese finish building the increment.”
A homeless man said, “I know it’s going to be tough but together with some of my other homeless friends we will somehow try and forge ourselves a life in the Port City in one of the penthouse suites that the Government will offer to us because no one can afford it. They would not want apartments lying empty, so I am confident we will get the keys to a swanky new place and then it will solve the issue of finding us housing and maximising the utility of the Port City land,”
“Unless Port City is all just for rich people and politicians,” he added.
