Sri Lanka’s Information and Communication Technology Agency’s Celebration In Helping Launch A Localised Version Of The IPaidABribe website were cut short last evening after a major glitch in related site IReceivedABribe.lk kept redirecting visitors to Sri Lanka’s Customs Department’s website.
A spokesman for ICTA said “We began celebrating our partnership with IPaidABribe, but failed to notice that the IReceivedABribe.lk website kept redirecting to the Customs website for about 20 years, and we are still trying to resolve the issue. We have spoken to several customs officers about this and sought their assistance. They have promised to help and said to come and meet them with some pieces of paper with binary numbers printed on them. Ideally, with the number one preceding several zeros. And green in colour.”
A spokesman for the Customs Department said, “We are looking into this matter. You see we understand that money can’t buy happiness. But it can buy you a tax-free shipment of your goods into the country. And a lot of people are complaining that their tax money is not being put into good use. So we decided to act on behalf of the public and stop providing the government with some tax income. The public are better off buying goods, services, apartments and vehicles that our officers provide via their side businesses from the proceeds of facilitating the non-payment of tax.”
Meanwhile, IReceivedACommission.lk is also suffering from a technical issue and redirecting users to a list of current and former MPs.
