Following the dire attempt earlier this week to hi-five each other that ended up with all parties concerned left hanging, Indian President Modi has signed an agreement with Ranil Wickremasinghe and Maithripala Sirisena to undergo training to improve co-ordination of the gesture for future occasions.
Speaking on his return, the Indian premier said “While I made some important announcements including extending the ambulance service across the country and the construction of 10,000 houses, I was disappointed about not being able to properly execute a hi-five with the Sri Lankan leaders at the end of a rally. At least Maithri and I were in the same vicinity – I honestly don’t know where the hell Ranil was heading with his hi-five. He may have spotted Arjuna Mahendran in the crowd.”
Mr Wickramasinghe said, “This is a very important agreement for the country and is another achievement of Yahapaalanaya. Not only hi-fives, but we will soon be extending the training program to include fist bumps and thumbs up. Going forward I will need to use these with other major dignitaries when I meet them, but I hope to make contact unlike what happened earlier this week when I left a brother hanging.”
