Despite the presence of the Indian cricket team in the country during the General Election, the Commissioner said he would consider the use of the DRS (Democracy Review System) as requested by the UPFA in a submission made last evening. The party, who enjoyed a majority in the last parliment, are concerned that the conditions for next Monday are looking a bit gloomy which could result in a lot of swing away from them.
The DRS rules would be applied during counting window with each party given the chance to challenge the count from 2 districts only per province. Party leaders will have 10 seconds after the vote tallies are released from each district to request a review by signalling the letter T with their arms or shouting ‘Oka horata gannagkarala’ to the Commissioner.
A specially appointed envoy from Europe will be act as third umpire and be given access to replays of the facial reactions of the candidates as the results are read out. If any lines of surprise appear when a candidate has been declared a winner, the third umpire may intervene and void a result.
MR has requested if the alternative DRS (Democracy Rescind System) could be used to re-evaluate the outcome of the Presidential Election but the Commissioner declined saying he had taken too long to request the review. Replays show the former president left Temple Trees too late to regain any credibility and his behaviour was declared out of order.
