Dayasiri Jayasekera today said that any national cricketers who complain of pain after scoring a half century should stop making runs after notching up 49 in the future.
Speaking at a press conference, the Minister said, “We can’t have our players getting injured by trying to reach the 50 run milestone. If they can stop at 49 it will make it easier for us to manage their injuries and also allow them to continue enjoying their diet of an all you can eat buffet. It is important that our players are in shape, of which round is a very popular one. We will also tell Sri Lankan fans that they should applaud when any of the players reach 49 and imagine they scored 50.”
President of the Sri Lankan Cricket Board, Thilanga Supathipala, said “This is a great solution, as I now can place some very lucrative bets that no one in the team will reach 50.”
Thisara Perera said, “Is it okay if I just score 8 runs?”
