A woman who was pronounced dead over 25 years ago has returned to her village although she is unsure if she came forward or went back in time after assessing the political landscape of the country.
“I don’t know what’s happened since I disappeared but it appears that the LGBT community has no rights, people are living in poverty, politicians are living in luxury, regular power cuts and no one can afford property at Colombo 7. It seems not only are these things the same but they have actually got worse. Although in addition to power cuts there are also water cuts. I may actually be in 1967, not 2017.”
“Although it was claimed that I was dead, I was actually detained under house arrest and kept as a maid. Having looked at the political landscape I think I may actually return back to that house. I could have bought a car with Rs 100,000 I had back in 1993, but now I can’t even buy a tyre for that price. And no one wants to talk to me. They keep telling me to get on WhatsApp to have a conversation,” she added.
“I think people are expecting a global catastrophe soon as they keep taking pictures of themselves.”
