Former UNP MP Rosy Senanayake who last week stated that despite falling short had no regrets of contesting for a seat in Parliament, has now requested a recount of the votes in the district of Colombo so she can definitely and most certainly confirm she has no regrets.
A statement issued by her spokesperson said “I am honoured and privileged to be in a position where I have no regrets. But to be honest, I would have been a little more honoured and privileged if I won a seat. There are instances in life which demand a recount – number of spouses you have after you get married to ensure it is one, number of your children in the car and number of times you went to the buffet table in case people accuse you of eating all the prawns. Another such occasion is when you have no regrets and I want to make sure I have none”
“In the event I won a seat in Parliament I would have had some regrets including that of preventing someone else in, and in that situation I would have not requested a recount”
Meanwhile all the people who voted for Wimal have demanded a recount with a majority saying that they didn’t know other people were going vote for him and marked his number in sympathy.
